ACS-SA Outreach Activities

Community Outreach is an integral part of the ACS-SA. Here are just some of the activities the ACS-SA uses to spread the fun of science.

Each semester, the ACS-SA visits libraries in the Latah and Nez Perce Counties and performs simple chemistry demonstrations designed to peek the interest of primary school aged children.   These library demonstrations are discussed in our Library Demos page.

The ACS-SA has also visited the Tuxtinmepu Pow Wow several times.

In the fall semester the ACS-SA presents a big demonstration called the Mole Day Demo where the more expensive, dangerous, and / or exciting demonstrations of chemical principles are showcased. This event is open to the community, and invitations are mailed to each grade school, junior & senior high school in the surrounding area.

In the Spring semester the ACS-SA participates in the Moscow Renaissance Faire by presenting Fire & Ice, an alchemy, pyro technics, and all around fun & impressive demonstration for all ages.

For a list of the demonstrations performed at the libraries, see the Library Demos page (above link) or the ACS-SA's full Demo List.
